You don’t have to book an international flight or travel back in time to connect with cultural relevance—just buy a ticket to the ninth annual spring dance gala at PVCC. The Albemarle Ballet Theatre and the Studio for the Performing Arts partner for the family-friendly Multicultural Mosaic of Dance, featuring “Carnival of the Animals,” a magical safari of exotic movement, and “Tri, Tin, Tres,” a celebration of Irish, Indian and Latin American traditional dance forms. Company dancers and members of the local modern troupe, concorDance, draw inspiration from West African and Haitian cultures, 1920s Charleston, gospel medleys, and even Radiohead.

Saturday 5/18 $9-12, 6pm. V. Earl Dickinson Theater, PVCC Campus, 501 College Dr. 823-8888.
