Medically fragile children under home care struggle to get the equipment they need

Dee Dee Hallock moved from Florida to Charlottesville to be with her family in Virginia and get help from UVA Medical Center. “I’m a single mom,” she says. “I was an elementary school teacher in Florida for 20 years, I had no help. So the only thing I could do was move up here to have help with my family.” Six days after arriving in Virginia, her son was back in the ICU. Photo by Eze Amos.
