Below the line

The Southern Belles are intentionally trying to deceive you. With a name that evokes images of the many sweet, Dixie-dame acts roaming the country, the Belles draw you in with a textbook misnomer and then catch you with an unexpected right hook of testosterone-driven dirty country, honky-tonk, electric bluegrass, and psychedelic jams. The Richmond-based quartet isn’t really up to anything nefarious, though. They just want to get you all hot and bothered.

Wednesday 1/9 Free, 10:30pm. Rapture, 303 E. Main St., Downtown Mall. 293-9526.
