With over 15 years of acclaim under his belt, it’s hard to believe Gary Clark Jr. is just releasing his debut album, Blak and Blu. His natural prowess on guitar first surfaced during his childhood in Austin, Texas, a city that declared an official Gary Clark Jr. Day while he was still in his teens. Prodigy status launched him into a national career full of wide-ranging musical collaborations with everyone from Eric Clapton and The Roots to Nas and Alicia Keys. Clark takes a multi-directional musical view and uses emotive singing, along with masterful guitar slinging, to open up the crossroads of blues, rock, and R&B.

Friday 10/18. $25-28, 7pm. The Jefferson Theater, 110 E. Main St., Downtown Mall. 245-4980.
