ARTS Pick: El Ten Eleven

Don’t call El Ten Eleven a math rock band. “My personal favorite label for the band has been ‘power duo’ said Tim Fogarty. “It’s kind of ridiculous but I like it.” Don’t call El Ten Eleven a math rock band. “My personal favorite label for the band has been ‘power duo’ said Tim Fogarty. “It’s kind of ridiculous but I like it.”

No two sounds are the same coming from avant-garde rock act El Ten Eleven. Guitarist Kristian Dunn plucks a unique double-neck that incorporates a standard guitar and a bass, and Tim Fogarty backs him with acoustic and electronic drumming. The duo chooses from an infinite number of guitar pedals and percussive tools in recording layer over layer of tracks in the creation of a loop happy two-man symphony.

Sunday 9/22. $12, 9pm. The Southern Café and Music Hall, 103 S. First St. 977-5590.
