November 2009: We Caught You Looking Sweet

Mandy Gagel

Occupation: UVA faculty member, Editor of Frederick Law Olmsted Papers
Where we spotted her: Fiske Kimball Library

Style sense: Mandy wears a Puella dress from a Boston boutique, a necklace from New York that a friend gave her, Spanx tights, vintage Frye boots and a Tano leather bag. She says her high-waisted apparel accentuates her curvy shape and accessories—like her boots and necklace—top off her ‘70s-inspired look.

Laura Martin

Occupation: Business Director for Cynthia Rowley
Where we spotted her: At the Cynthia Rowley Mobile Fashion Unit in front of Eloise

Style sense: Inspired by contemporary art with a New York City and forward-thinking vibe, Laura wears a washed leather jacket, studded tights and a strapless dress with uneven pleating and shirring, all by Cynthia Rowley, and boots by Michael Kors.

Kristin Solomon

Occupation: Intern architect at SHW Group
Where we spotted her: On the Downtown Mall

Style sense: Kristin says her style reflects elements that appeal to her in architecture: straightforward, clean lines in expressive materials and structure. When we spotted her, she was wearing an amber necklace her late mother bought in Estonia, a cardigan from J. Crew, a skirt from GAP and boots from Boutique Boutique.

Vicky Tay

Occupation: Owner of Chloe
Where we spotted her: Chloe, on Water Street

Style sense: “Comfort with an edge” is how Vicky describes her style. She wears Dylan George distressed jeans, a Doma cropped leather jacket, a Love Quotes scarf and a Bellissima cuff, all from Chloe. Her boots are by Jeffrey Campbell. Her French bulldog, Bella, wears a sweater from Animal Connection.

Serena Weaver

Occupation: Sustainability consultant
Where we spotted her: On the Downtown Mall

Style sense: Serena is simply and stylishly dressed in black flats by Loeffler Randall from Scarpa, jeans by Citizens of Humanity and a black turtleneck by White + Warren from Eloise. Her Miu Miu bag is from Copenhagen and she wears bangles inherited from her grandmother. The Native American motif bracelet by Hermes, and thin, black and steel watch by Gucci are gifts from her mother.
