Comments Policy

Comments are pre-moderated. However, we do not delete or censor comments unless they have content that:

    * is potentially libelous or makes unverifiable and damaging claims of fact
    * is abusive or excessively offensive
    * is off-topic
    * contains ad hominem attack
    * uses excessively foul language
    * is blatantly spam

A comment is conversation. A comment that does not add to the conversation, runs off on an inappropriate tangent, or kills the conversation, might not be posted.

If you find that your comment isn’t showing up after a reasonable amount of time, it may have been erroneously flagged as spam. Please email us at to follow up on the status of your comment if it hasn’t shown up after 24 hours. We will do our best to sort it out.

Email Privacy: Email addresses are required for commenting. They are not published on the blog, nor shared, nor sold, nor in any other way utilized.

Anyone who violates this Comments Policy may be blocked from future access and/or commenting on c-ville blogs.

Thank you.

Our comments system is designed to foster a lively debate of ideas, offer a forum for the exchange of ad hoc information, and solicit honest, respectful feedback about the work we do. We’re glad you’re participating. Here are a few simple rules to follow, which should be relatively straightforward.

1) Don’t call people names or accuse them of things you cannot support.
2) Don’t direct foul language, racial slurs, or offensive terms at other commenters or our staff.
3) Don’t use the discussion on our site for commercial (or shameless personal) promotion.

We reserve the right to remove posts and ban commenters who violate any of the rules listed above, or the spirit of the discussion. We’re trying to create a safe space for a wide range of people to express themselves, and we believe that goal can only be achieved through thoughtful, sensitive editorial control.
