Final Countdown
by Jen Sorensen
by Jen Sorensen, September 18th, 2008 11:30am

Yesterday's Women for Obama rally, while decidedly light on attacks on the McCain campaign, contained the single most important message the Dems can deliver about McCain and women: that McCain failed to show up for the vote on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and that he later said he would have voted against it.

If ever there was an opportunity for McCain to stand up for women, this was it, and he blew it big time. You want to stand up for women? You vote for equal pay for equal work. You don't recruit an embarrassingly unqualified, anti-choice, intellectually incurious, Trojan horse whackjob to curry favor with the ladies. As I jotted in my notebook while I listened to pay discrimination victim Lilly Ledbetter yesterday: "Palin seems like an absolute disgrace compared to this woman." And Ledbetter isn't even running for office.

Michelle Obama noted that many people present may not had heard Ledbetter's story. I believe it, and I wonder why that is. Kudos to the Obama campaign for having her speak on the trail; however, her story -- and the fact of McCain's opposition to equal pay -- needs to be put forth much more forcefully. Honestly, McCain's rejection of the Ledbetter law should be a running joke by now.

Amazingly, many followers of Trojan Horse candidates like Palin do not understand that they are a tactic -- a tactic towards greater inequality. Party operatives who put up Trojan Horse candidates know exactly what they're doing. Palin is a living contradiction in that she would never be in the position she's in had it not been for progressives who fought for decades for women's rights. They fought against the conservative ideologies Palin espouses and promises to put into practice. She's a cynical ploy, folks. Hence my cartoon for this week. You might also want to read my cartoon about Lilly Ledbetter.

If you missed my pictures from the rally, check 'em out here.

Ms. Palin I am sure Is Great Governor Of Alaska

Sarah Palin as Vice President is really not the problem. The problem is that given McCains health issues and age Ms. Palin could in deed become the President of the United States.

Please look at her resume. Check theses facts on the web

Beauty queen Contestant
After changing colleges 5 times she did graduate
For a short time a sports reporter
4 years on a small town (Much smaller than Charlottsville)city council
6 years as the mayor of a small town (Much smaller than Charlottsville)with less than 7,000 people
20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people.
On the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission

You say Mr. Obama is inexperienced?
Mr. Obama spent 3 years as a community organizer (Not important)
Attended Harvard Law School,
Passed the bar on the first try (Hillary had to take it three times),
Graduated in the top portion of his Harvard Law class
President of the Harvard Law Review,
Created a voter registration drive that registered 150,000 new voters,
12 years as a Constitutional Law professor
8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people
Chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee
4 years in the United States Senate representing state of 3 million people
Sponsored 131 bills
served on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees.

As I Stated
Sarah Palin as Vice President is really not the problem. The problem is that given McCains health issues and age Ms. Palin could in deed become the President of the United States. SCARY VERY SCARY.

I'm waiting for McCain to start showing signs of dementia. What happens if the old guy gets elected and doesn't die of old age, but succumbs to Alzheimer's shortly after taking office? So there are at least two very real ways we could end up with a Palin presidency.

The thought of Palin at the helm of the nation should be terrifying even to Republicans. There have been a few McCain policies that I agree with, and I might have considered voting for him but having Palin on the ticket is absolute insanity.

Seems like his choice of a running mate might indicate that McCain is already showing signs of dementia.

Ben apparently you do not watch the news. McCain is already showing signs of dementia. Today he was asked about Spain and replied with words about Latin America and Mexico. He is far beyond dementia and no one is listening. Just like the public/media left Reagon get away with it.

What health issue(s) does Senator McCain have?

Perhaps Senator Obama's choice already shows he has dementia....with Senator Biden already stating the following- “We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” ....TAKE MONEY??? "There are no homosexuals in Delaware", OH REALLY!!!....and on, and on, and on.....

I know that "take money" does not mean much to those of you who do not work and care to have the government shovel you money and programs which are already paid for by those of us who work and pay taxes.

Governor Palin can hold her own for sure- and without teleprompters............

We shall see.
