The performing arts program at the Miller School of Albemarle stages the modern update of Romeo and Juliet, telling the tale of star-crossed lovers, Tony and Maria, and the cultural conflicts that they must try to overcome to be together.  Maria’s connection to the Sharks, a gang of Puerto Rican immigrants, and Tony’s membership in their rival, the Jets, means that their relationship is at best taboo; at worst, it could be the spark that ignites an all-out gang war.
