Cville Pride

The local LGBTQ community gathers in compassion, sympathy and sorrow

Hundreds of people gathered for a candlelight vigil at the Downtown Mall’s Free Speech Wall on Monday, June 13, to show their support for victims of Sunday’s mass shooting at Pulse, an Orlando nightclub. Sponsored by Cville Pride, the event, which ended after a march to the city’s federal building, included speeches from Vice-Mayor Wes Bellamy, a representative from UVA’s Muslim Student Association, Cville Pride President Amy Sarah Marshall and Lisa Green, director of the Cville Pride Festival.
